Iya's Kazura Bridge is a suspension bridge made from woven wild vines and is one of Japan's Three Unusual Bridges.
It is 45 metres long, 2 metres wide and 14 metres above the river surface. The gaps between the rungs at your feet are about 10 centimetres apart, so when you look down you can see the river flowing underneath and the rock face, which is a thrill.
There is a thick wire in the core of the suspension bridge so there is no need to worry about falling off, but it does make a creaking noise every time you step on it and it does sway a little in the middle, so while the surrounding scenery from the bridge is wonderful, crossing this bridge can also be enjoyed as an activity in itself.
There is also a restaurant serving the local specialty, Iya soba, near Kazurabashi Bridge, so be sure to try this local soul food.

The Manneken Pis of Iya Valley is located on a rock jutting out from a cliff along the Iya River.
It was created based on an anecdote that local children and travelers used to test their courage here.
It is easily accessible from the Iya Kazurabashi Bridge introduced earlier, and we recommend taking the extra mile to see the Manneken Pis statue.
The valley floor is about 200 meters away, and looking down it's almost dizzying.
You can get there by car, but you need to be careful as you will have to go through narrow mountain roads.

The Udatsu townscape will make you feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Edo period.
During the Edo period, the town flourished as a distribution center for Awa indigo, and is known as the "town of udatsu" because many of the houses with udatsu roofs remain.
This area is filled with a retro atmosphere and is lined with merchant houses built from the mid-Edo period to the early Showa period. You can tour the interiors of the buildings and sample local gourmet food accompanied by a local volunteer guide.
At the Mima City Tourism Exchange Center, located in the Udatsu district, you can experience making traditional Mima umbrellas and indigo dyeing, and at the teahouse you can enjoy juice made with Tokushima's specialty sudachi citrus and lunch made with local ingredients such as Awaodori chicken.
Enjoy a taste of Tokushima's local cuisine while taking in the charming townscape.
Mount Bizan, named after the fact that it looks like an eyebrow from any direction, is a 290-meter-high mountain located next to Tokushima's city center. From the summit, you can see magnificent views of the city center, the Seto Inland Sea, and the Kishu mountains.
"Mountains of Awa, seen through the clouds like eyebrows"
This mountain is also mentioned in the Manyoshu and is one of Tokushima City's most famous tourist destinations.
You can drive to the top of the mountain and then walk up the stairs from the parking lot to the observation facility. There is a cascade of flowers along the stairs, and you can enjoy the seasonal flowers planted in a fan shape on your way to the observation facility.
In addition to driving, you can also take a ropeway to the observation facility and enjoy a six-minute stroll through the air.
[Awa Odori Hall] The ticket office is on the first floor, and the Awagin Bizan Ropeway Base Station is on the fifth floor.
We recommend using this ropeway when sightseeing at Mt. Bizan.
